Single-cone dryers are primarily employed for drying powdered and granular materials in pharmaceutical, chemical, and food industries, proving particularly suitable for heat-sensitive materials, high-viscosity substances, and materials containing volatile components.
Applicable Materials
1. Powdered/Granular Materials
Including inorganic salts (e.g., lithium carbonate), pigments and dyes (e.g., titanium dioxide), polymer resin pellets (e.g., ABS resin), etc. The mixing action of the screw ribbon agitator prevents particle agglomeration, ensuring uniform drying.
2. High-viscosity/paste/slurry materials
Such as Chinese herbal extracts (e.g., astragalus extract), biopharmaceutical fermentation broths, lithium battery slurries (e.g., lithium iron phosphate slurry), and adhesive intermediates. The screw ribbon mixer's intense shear force breaks up agglomerates, while the vacuum environment prevents high-temperature carbonisation.
3. Heat-sensitive materials
Including enzyme preparations (e.g., amylase), probiotics (e.g., Bifidobacterium), vitamins (e.g., vitamin C), etc. Drying temperatures can be maintained as low as 30–60°C to prevent deactivation of active components.
4. Materials containing volatile or toxic solvents
Such as toxic intermediates in API production or explosive solvents (e.g., certain chemical raw materials). The vacuum environment mitigates operational risks.
Special Requirements
1. Preventing material adhesion to walls
Equipment interior walls undergo specialised surface treatment to ensure non-flowing materials (e.g., high-viscosity extracts) leave no residue, with residual levels below 0.5%.
2. Temperature and Vacuum Control
Thermally sensitive materials require low-temperature drying (30–60°C) alongside a vacuum pump system maintaining negative pressure (typically ≤0.1 MPa) to ensure rapid moisture removal and inhibit oxidation.
3. Dust Management
Equipment is fitted with dust extraction units at the top. Reverse-blow functionality prevents material blockages in vacuum lines, safeguarding system stability.
